Traditional Japanese dishes my wife has prepared for New Year's day.
The "Omedetai" (kind of a humorous take on omedetou and tai, as I understand it) New Year's fish, and a few small dishes from homemade osechi ryouri in Japan. Osechi ryouri is food prepared ahead of tToshikoshi soba, a traditional Japanese dish eaten at midnight with the new year. Apparently the long noodles symbolize long life.
